Landscape photography can be a bit of a start and stop genre, with hours of waiting punctuated by fleeting moments of opportunity. That can lead to some difficult decisions about how to maximize your chances of coming home with worthwhile shots. This great video follows an experienced landscape photographer as he grapples with such decisions and discusses how he moves forward.

A lot of landscape photography revolves around predicting conditions and how light will behave, then waiting for it to arrive. Of course, things do not always go as planned, particularly when you do not have control over so many of the governing conditions of the shoot. On the other hand, if you just cut and run the moment things are not working out, you could end up spending the entire day chasing shots and never catching up.
