Visitors to Thomas Jefferson’s Poplar Forest on Saturday got a glimpse into photography during Jefferson’s time with a seminar on collodian wet plate processing. 

Thomas Jefferson was fascinated with technology, such as the camera obscurer, which allows the photographer to project a reversed silhouette of an image onto a piece of paper. Visitors learned about the history of the photography form that laid the groundwork for modern photography.
