MACON, Ga. (WGXA) — Mercer University hosted “Images of Positive Aging: A Guided Response Tour Photography Exhibition” on Thursday, presented by its Engage team.

Held at the Mercer Innovation Center, the exhibition showcased images that were used in an inter-professional education activity with health professions students to promote positive aging.

The students who were involved in the education activity stated that it helped shape how they view older individuals.

“Health humanities using visual arts can foster the development of habits of the heart, improving visual literacy, clinical observation skills, resilience, empathy and reflection in health professions students. These skills are necessary to provide age-friendly health care for older adults,” said David W. M. Taylor, Clinical Associate Professor of Physical Therapy in the College of Health Professions.

There was also a facilitated discussion at the end of the exhibition, to explore everyone’s perspective and takeaways.
