ARMOUR, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – Nicolette Hoffman is a very busy senior at Armour High School. She’s in many activities, but one is truly her favorite.

“I’m super passionate about 4-H. When I was ten, I joined the precision rifle team, Dakota Sharpshooters. I’ve traveled nationally, statewide — stuff like that. Went to national competitions,” said Nicolette.

She had to be homeschooled for a couple of years because of all that traveling for shooting. She’s glad to be back in school now.

“I really appreciate being back in school, being in Armour. I love Armour. We have small classes. The teachers are your friends. To be honest, you can talk to them about everything,” said Nicolette.

Those teachers are glad the 4.0 student is back.

“Having someone like her in our school just makes it a better place. She’s a great student, but she’s also a great role model,” said superintendent and principal Craig Holbeck.

She plans to stay close to home for college.

“I plan to attend Dakota Wesleyan, to major in psychology. I don’t know if I want to go to grad school to major in educational psychology or law school. I haven’t decided yet,” said Nicolette.

Nicholette also keeps busy with her own photography business.

“I really like people. I really like talking to people, meeting people and just getting to watch people smile. I think that’s what I love the most about it,” said Nicholette.

“I’ve been in her pictures. She’s taken pictures of my small family and my extended family. Not only does she own the business, but she does a really great job, as well,” said Holbeck.

For being named a Scholar of the Week, Nicolette gets a $250 scholarship from the Douglas Electric Cooperative, which is a Touchstone Energy Cooperative.
