The Digital Watauga Project (DWP) has announced that its annual exhibition of photographic images will take place in the Jones House Cultural and Community Center main gallery from Feb. 29 to March 30. This year’s theme is “Tourism: Behind the Scenes.” The opening reception for the exhibition will be on Friday, March 1, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 at the Jones House. The curators for this year’s exhibition, Gramm Coffman and Adelia Daly, will offer a gallery talk on their process at 5:30pm at the reception.

Tourism is a defining pillar of Boone and the High Country. Since the early days of Watauga County, people have journeyed here in search of retreat, withdrawal, and escape from the world below. Visitors of all walks of life come to participate in a wild west adventure aboard the Tweetsie Railroad, absorb the striking beauty around The Blowing Rock, ponder the secrets of Mystery Hill, or immerse themselves in the drama of the early history of Boone in the Horn in the West outdoor drama production.
