Every other year, the journalism program at the University of Montana produces Byline Magazine, a project written, edited and photographed entirely by students. One of those students is Ava Rosvold, a 21-year-old graduate of Wenatchee High School. Her photographs illustrate three articles in the most recent Byline.

NCWLIFE spoke with Ava about this year’s magazine, which focuses on the mental health challenges facing the people of Montana. She says she’s always loved photography, but moved toward photojournalism once she began her college career. She’s been published in the Bozeman Daily Chronicle and other outlets.
