As a complement to the ongoing exhibition “Modern Women | Modern Vision: Photographs from the Bank of America Collection,” the Bakersfield Museum of Art on March 9 presented a panel discussion titled “Through the Lens,” about the power of visual storytelling. Photographers and other creatives offered “their unique perspectives and insights on the evolution of photography and the role female creatives played in that growth.”
Moderated by Bakersfield College photography professor Kristopher Stallworth, the panel included photographer and artist Reema Hammad; Felix Adamo, documentary photographer and former Bakersfield Californian photojournalist; Kacy Jung, photographer and mixed-media sculptor whose work was part of the museum’s fall display in “Personal Archaeology”; Jennifer Williams-Cordova, multidisciplinary artist and co-owner of Willis & Williams Design Studios; Sarah Reingewirtz, staff photographer for the Los Angeles Daily News; artist and cinematographer Keaton Punch; and Jean-Luc Slagle, owner and creative director of Scope Studio.
