Opening her set under a red sheet Mitski’s headling for tour for her record The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We is like watching a one woman play with a backing band featuring versions of songs that are sometimes reimagined. She is currently closing out her tour in Nashville with four back-to-back nights at The Ryman. Check out Lindsy’s photos from night one with support from Sarah Kinsley.

Director Alex Garland’s chilling dystopian thriller Civil War is now in theaters and several notable stars play major roles in the film. But where else have moviegoers seen the cast member who plays the rookie photographer Jessie?
Civil War soared in preview screenings Thursday night with a $2.9 million take at the domestic box office. The film — which was produced by indie studio A24 — officially opens Friday in more than 2,900 theaters nationwide.
Set in a not-too-distant future where Americans are at war with each other after the country had divided into four separate regions, Civil War chronicles a group of journalists’ harrowing trek from New York City to Washington, D.C. The group’s goal is to interview and take photos of a dictatorial third-term president (Nick Offerman) before rebel forces can get to him in the White House.
Kirsten Dunst plays Lee Smith, a revered war photographer who teams with veteran reporters Joel (Wagner Moura) and Sammy (Stephen McKinley Henderson) for the dangerous assignment. Also starring in the pivotal role of Jessie in Civil War is Cailee Spaeny, a young, inexperienced photographer whom Lee reluctantly allows to tag along on the group’s D.C. mission.
Spaeny has become a familiar face in Hollywood after starring in several high-profile projects in the past few years. Most recently, Spaeny played the lead role of Priscilla Presley opposite Jacob Elordi’s Elvis Presley in director Sofia Coppola’s 2023 biographical drama Priscilla.
Playing Priscilla Presley helped elevate Spaeny’s star during the 2023 movie awards season, as she earned a Best Actress in a Drama nomination from the Golden Globes and an Outstanding Lead Performance nomination from the Gotham Awards. The London Film Critics also named Spaeny their Breakthrough Performer of the Year.
Born July 24, 1998, in Springfield, Missouri, Callie Spaeny’s feature film debut came in a key role in the 2018 sci-fi thriller Pacific Rim: Uprising opposite John Boyega and Scott Eastwood.
Also in 2018, Spaeny starred in supporting roles in the films Bad Times at the El Royale, Vice and The Basis of Sex. In the latter, Spaeny played Jane Ginsburg — the daughter of Ruth Bader Ginsburg (Felicity Jones) — in a biopic about the late Supreme Court judge
Spaeny first worked with Civil War writer-director Alex Garland in 2020 on his streaming series Devs. The futuristic series also marked the first time Spaeny worked with her Civil War co-stars Nick Offerman and Stephen McKinley Henderson.

Also on television, Spaeny starred opposite Kate Winslet in a key role in the 2021 series Mare of Easttown. Additionally, Spaeny played Anna Eleanor Roosevelt— the daughter of First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt (Gillian Anderson) — in the 2022 series The First Lady.
This summer, Spaeny will venture to space — where no one can hear you scream — in one of the lead roles in the next Alien chapter Alien: Romulus, which is due in theaters on August 16.
Until then, audiences can see Spaeny in Civil War in theaters.
