Studio 55 | Embellishment and Printmaking Sundays, Jan. 7 – Feb. 25* from 1 – 4 pm (7 classes)  Studio 55 is the new community programming at TMA for adults 55 and older to connect over art and artmaking.  *Excludes January 21st This is part of the museum’s participation in the Vitality Arts Project for Art Museums funded by EA Michelson Philanthropy to promote the work of anti-ageism in our community and industry.

Lindquist’s influential works were called “metaphors of the mind” by one reviewer. The Salina, Kansas, native was named Arkansas’s first Artist Laureate in 2013, and taught art at Arkansas State University for 40 years. Lindquist excelled outside of the classroom as well as in it; he was a renowned figure on the landscape of American printmaking, and his works are in permanent collections across the world.

There will be two time slots available (at 11am and at 2pm). Join us for a behind-the-scenes look at Gemini G.E.L. printers at work. During the session, attendees will learn about printmaking techniques and participate in making a print. Due to the hazards of a working studio, the workshop is intended only for adult guests 18 years+. Gemini G.E.L. is an artists’ workshop and publisher of limited edition prints and sculptures. Founded in 1966, Gemini has collaborated with renowned artists including Tacita Dean, Jasper Johns, Ellsworth Kelly, Roy Lichtenstein, Julie Mehretu, Robert Rauschenberg, Analia Saban, and Richard Serra, who embrace broad-ranging visual languages and innovative technical approaches. This program compliments the exhibition First Came a Friendship: Sidney B. Felsen and the Artists at Gemini G.E.L., on view from February 20, 2024 through July 7, 2024.
