In 2019, Amy Denet Deal left behind her successful career in the fashion industry in Los Angeles, moved to Albuquerque and started over.

“The more money I made, the unhappier I was. And then I just started living my life in a different way,” she recalled. “It’s the best thing I ever did because I actually know who I am as a Diné woman.”

Thus rejuvenated, Denet Deal started a sustainable artwear brand in Albuquerque called Orenda Tribe, which became a business called 4KINSHIP when she moved the store to Santa Fe’s Canyon Road in the summer of 2022. The name reflects not only her healing journey of coming home, she said, but also her aim to use the business to support other artists.
