UCROSS — When Brenda Mallory — one of the inaugural recipients of the Ucross Foundation’s  Fellowship for Native American Visual Artists in 2018 —  was invited back to curate the organization’s 2024 “Celebrating Complexities” exhibit, she had her work cut out for her.

Stretched out before Mallory — and visitors to the Ucross Art Gallery — was work separated by geography, artistic medium and the Indigenous tribes from which they hailed.
