Mumbai ‘Ancient Sculptures’ exhibition at CSMVS brings together artistic traditions from India, Egypt, Assyria, Greece and Rome
At the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya, explore ancient sculptures from India, Egypt, Assyria, Greece & Rome. From a majestic 2nd century BCE limestone sculpture from Amaravati to a resplendent white marble Dionysos from 100-199 CE, on loan from the British Museum, the exhibition illuminates the interconnectedness of the ancient world. Through art education and reinterpreting ancient art history, this show furthers CSMVS’ mandate for art education. With works from international partners & Indian museums, visitors can explore the familiar & exotic in syncretism. In dialogue with the sculptures, visitors can take their place in history.
