RAPID CITY, S.D. – Bringing people together in support of Native American artists, Culture Shock debuted at The Monument with two parts, a fashion show and a music festival.

Dsc 0474The fashion show featured seven Native American national and international designers with 60 models. There were also musical performances and speakers in between designers. One designer, Red Berry Woman, was a 2022 Grammy winner.

After the fashion show, the music festival started at 4 p.m. and featured 29 artists. The hosts for the music festival were Tonia Jo Hall and Leo Arguello of DeadEnd Records, featuring guest speaker Tiny Decory

“I’m excited to be here supporting Indigenous voices, Indigenous talent and Indigenous artists,” Cante Heart, supporter and attendee of Culture Shock, said. “I think it’s important to expose our talent and our voices throughout the Black Hills because this is our original, Oceti Sakowin territory, and this is where we are from. So it’s important to uplift Indigenous voices and talent and artists. So I’m here as a supporter.”
