SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — The leaves in Utah are popping with an explosion of colors, and the best way to capture it is from 500 feet up.

“The quality of photos from this drone makes it so much fun out here,” said Utah photographer Eric Kerr.

“It just really pops,” he added.

Kerr knows how to capture the fall pop. He is a local photographer behind these breathtaking shots.

It started as a hobby ten years ago.

“I just loved getting out in nature to taking photos,” Kerr told KUTV’s Kristen Kenney.

Four years into his photography, he discovered his favorite vantage point – a bird’s eye view.

“I picked up a drone about six years ago, and ever since, I have just fallen in love with shooting photos from the sky,” he said.

Now, his shots are trending on social media. Just one clip has gained over 220,000 views on Instagram.

So, what are some of his tips and tricks for capturing these breathtaking visuals?

Kerr said he finds inspiration from social media.

“From Instagram,” he told Kenney. “I see where people are going, how the colors are looking, and use Google Earth to find these places.”

Another tip: Golden hour.

“That is the key for shooting these colors,” he shared. “It will really soften the colors.”

And if you don’t have a drone, don’t worry. There is still so much beauty to capture, Kerr said.

“Everywhere is looking amazing right now! So, just get out with your camera, go out for golden hour, and you’ll get some amazing shots.”
