LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The cold weather continues this winter, and a Louisville photographer is embracing the snow to capture some serene images.

“My fingers don’t work so well in the cold,” said Paul Schuhmann, who used his lunch break Friday to step outside and take some photos of the snow. 

Even if it means his fingers and toes are cold, Schuhmann said he loves shooting in the winter because it allows for some interesting shots. He added he enjoys shooting the sky, as it provides natural beauty. 

“There [are] not too many people around … you go places, and you can have it to yourself,” Schuhmann said. “A lot of times, if you go in the spring and summer, you deal with crowds.”

Schuhmann comes from a family of photographers. He said bad weather can often produce appealing shots.

He uses social media to share his work, including hashtagging #OneKentucky each time.

“I like to get out in [what] I call, the edges of the day: sunset, sunrise,” he said. “Whatever kind of photography I’m doing, I try to look for the beauty and capture it as best I can and then edit it and share it.” 

The hobbyist said he’s already getting ready to capture the upcoming total solar eclipse April 8.
