Maria Samora is a fine jeweler born and raised in Taos, to an Anglo mother who came with the Hippie wave, and a father from Taos Pueblo.

Her father, Frank, was immortalized by Frank Waters as “the man who killed the deer,” in the book so titled. Maria grew up with her mother and brother in El Prado, close enough to the village for her dad to ride his horse over daily.
