Peter van Agtmael was fresh out of college when he decided to plunge himself into the highly volatile world of conflict photography.

After New York’s twin towers collapsed in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, there was plenty for van Agtmael to do. Indeed, there was so much to do that it would become the main focus of his career for a couple of decades.
