Premier of “Among the Sky” Infused With LG OLED and Lifestyle TVs
During Frieze New York From May 17 to 21
SEOUL, May 18, 2023 – LG Electronics (LG) announced today another breakthrough collaboration with Six N. Five (Ezequiel Pini b. 1985), an award-winning Argentinian designer and digital artist based in Barcelona. Over the last decade, Pini has increasingly explored how 3D tools and software can be used in his artistic practice to create imaginary, dreamlike worlds whose aesthetic is at once modernist, contemporary and, above all, elegant. The collaborative exhibition Among the Sky, which includes six specially commissioned artworks presented on large-scale format LG OLED and Lifestyle Screens, is being launched and exhibited during Frieze New York during a private preview held at The Shed May 15-16, and during the fair from May 17-21.
LG OLED Arts’ collaboration with Six N. Five highlights a continuing and concerted effort in bringing together the world of digital art and advanced technology by presenting contemporary art experiences through LG OLED screens to inspire new and changing forms of the platform and broadening the ways viewers can and will experience visual culture. With premium self-lit picture quality and powerful image processing technologies, LG OLED TVs elevate the viewing and user experience in digital art display.
“We believe that LG OLED will break through the limitations of conventional media and open up the possibilities for digital art and artists,” said Kate Oh, vice president of the Brand Communication Division at the LG Home Entertainment Company. “In accordance with our motto, We inspire art, LG OLED will inspire many artists as they advance into new forms of art, transcending the borders of different fields. We could not be more excited in working with the most talented digital native artists – such as Six N. Five who understand this space.”
The series of six newly commissioned works, Among the Sky are inspired by landscape paintings, expressionism and fantasy realms of the surrealist masters but whose practice draws on digital tools of digital artwork to produce animate vignettes that blur the distinction between natural and outer worldly expressions – one physical and the other, digital. Through this unique collaboration with LG OLED and LG Art Lab, each work can be seen and experienced viscerally in the physical world while also being made available across purely large-scale, digital platforms. LG’s state-of-the-art OLED evo TVs accurately reproduce the textures and colors of the work and deliver exceptionally immersive images, offering higher brightness, clarity and detail. It is also an important aspect through such collaborations to pave the way and bridge the gap between Web 2.0 to Web 3.0 user experiences.
“The sky has no boundaries. Its immensity has always represented a sacred journey beyond perceived limits to me. The world as we know and experience has a finite horizon. It is broken when our vision is raised to connect with the sky,” shares Six N. Five. “For some, it proposes the connection to the beyond, to our divine and spiritual essence. We look up there when we ask for things, when we seek an explanation or simply when we decide to “end” the verticality of our bodies to allow us a physical and mental rest, surrounded by nature.”
The six series of works by Six N. Five will be available as NFTs (Non-Fungible Token) via LG Art Lab on May 25 at 12:00 AM EDT and also be exhibited during Frieze New York from May 17-21, 2023 at The Shed 8th Floor, Tisch Skylights located at 545 W 30th Street, New York, NY. The exhibition is co-curated by Ezequiel Pini and Derrick Li, and supported by Triple X.

After 2021’s release of “GLOW ON”, Turnstile has been non-stop touring and filling up venues. The band has grown to incredible fame, and has brought the new wave of hardcore into the mainstream. The band played a packed show in their hometown venue, Otto Bar, in Baltimore, Maryland. Jay was there bracing the pit and taking some amazing photos. Check them out!

In a competitive world, where there are numerous brands fighting for the consumer’s attention, it becomes extremely critical for brands to stand out and put the message across in a unique manner.
At the India Communication Summit 2023, Saumya Jain, senior officer, content and community, ETBrandEquity.com moderated a panel discussion to decode the fine art of storytelling with Karishma Bhagi, lead – corporate communications, South Asia, Kellogg Company, Dinesh Joshi, head – corporate communications, HP India market, Sandeep Sharma, executive director (corporate communication and branding), IndianOil, Shivanjali Singh, head – corporate communications, Vodafone Idea, Samarpita Samaddar, India communications director, Bumble, and Pooja Pathak, founder and director, Media Mantra.
Samaddar of Bumble opened the discussion by highlighting how in today’s era where the cultural and media landscape is ever evolving, innovation in communication strategies is crucial. Especially now, where the world is saturated with information.
Additionally, it is important to know who the brand is really communicating with. “Unless you know who you are talking to, you wouldn’t know how to talk to them,” she said.
HP India’s executive created a parallelism between four P’s of marketing and four P’s of storytelling, namely, people, problem, product and possibilities.
But why is it important to drive consumers via stories to a brand?
From childhood, people are conditioned to listen to stories. But stories can have different forms and in every way as life moves, a story is happening. This is what people look forward to, Sharma added.
Over the years, Bhagi shared the evolution of storytelling happened decades ago through cave paintings and mythological stories of gods. Those stories built memorability in us and that is exactly what brands are trying to do today as well.
The Vodafone Idea executive added, “In earlier times, storytelling was one way to gain attention. But today, it has become more participative, more interactive and more immersive.”
Because of such technological advancements, storytelling is happening more on digital mediums. This is also why the attention span is getting shorter and the stories brands tell have to be engaging yet prompt.
Moving further, Pathak put focus on a few do’s and don’ts when it comes to storytelling. “Make the story more authentic, consistent and definitely transparent. This will help brands create well refined and well defined content,” she said.
Joshi further suggested following the ABCD of storytelling, which translates to being authentic, bold, clear and diverse.
The IndianOil executive wrapped the discussion and said, “Your story should be visually very appealing and the communication should be clutter-free. Also, don’t seek attention for the sake of it.”
The panel highlighted talk points around the current policy environment and the role of ESG in influencing policymakers. The experts also dived deep into the change in strategic communications, public relations and its impact.

Michelangelo’s David has run into trouble again. The sculptural Renaissance masterpiece was banned from the subway rail system in Glasgow, Scotland, due to nudity, recalling the recent row in Florida when parents of students at a conservative charter school complained about the statue’s inclusion in the curriculum.
DRG Group, which runs Barolo restaurant, featured David on a poster which depicts the sculpture eating a slice of pizza with the tag line: “It doesn’t get more Italian.” But the firm Global, which manages the advertising space on the subway, initially rejected the image.
The poster was then revised, incorporating stickers of the Italian flag which covered the crotch area. “We got stickers made and the feedback was that they weren’t actually big enough,” Nadine Carmichael, head of sales and marketing at the DRG Group, told the BBC. “Our next port of call was to show Michelangelo from the waist-up. We got there in the end.”
Mario Gizzi, director of the DRG Group, which runs Barolo, told The Times: “This is a globally recognised piece of art. It is taught in schools. People from all over the world travel to see it. It’s not the 1500s anymore, it’s 2023. Are we really saying that the people of Glasgow can’t handle seeing a naked statue?” Global had not responded to a request for comment at the time of writing.
David was at the centre of a culture war in Florida after Hope Carrasquilla, the principal of Tallahassee Classical School, was ousted by the school board when three parents of students complained about the statue, with one parent stating her child “should not be viewing those pieces”.
Jeff Kottkamp, the school’s general counsel, told The Art Newspaper: “The controversy was never about the art. It was about following the school’s policy of notifying parents anytime a topic that could be viewed as sensitive is being discussed in class.”
But Cecilie Hollberg, the director of the Accademia Gallery in Florence, said: “As director of one of the most important museums in the world, precisely because of the sculpture of Michelangelo’s David—a Renaissance masterpiece, an icon of sculpture—I am surprised by the ignorance that seems to be at the heart of what happened in Florida.”

The blizzard blocks my view. At the intersection of a snow road and a snowmobile trail, I notice a black spot in the distance. When I get to the trail, I realise that it is a lynx! I lay down on the ground and wait. Suddenly, a small lynx comes out of the wood and joins him, then another and another and another! To finish the parade, another adult sits with them. I have a total of six lynxes in front of me. They see me, but don’t move, I wait, and that’s when the small clan starts to walk in my direction. The lynxes float on this soft snow

Spring has finally sprung, and that means we’re all rushing outside to enjoy the sun and warm weather. While much visual art happens indoors, here are three creative, art-filled events that take place outdoors — weather-permitting.
Tee up at Skyline Mini Golf
The Walker Art Center’s popular rooftop artist-designed Skyline Mini Golf is back. Tee times begin on Thursday and run through early fall. The putt-putt fun kicks off with a ride on a mini golf version of the light rail from Target Field Station. Golfers must stay on track lest they experience serious delays. Another hole weaves putters through the narrative on a Hmong story cloth. In a hole titled “Dream Catcher,” made in collaboration with Native Youth Arts Collective, a feather guides players. In the multiplayer hole “Color Wheel,” up to four people can hit their golf balls at the same time, racing to see who can score first. Other creative mini golf holes deal with the necessity of quick decision-making or the possibility that a player could become a sculptural obstacle, and part of the game itself. The last hole, “Right on Cue,” is a mini game of billiards transformed into a putting challenge. There are only 10 holes, so make each one count. Maximum eight per team. (Ends Oct. 1. $12, $10 Walker members and ages 7-18. Add gallery admission for an extra $6. 725 Vineland Place, Mpls. Hours: 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Wed., Fri.-Sun., 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Thu. Pre-book tee times at walkerart.org.)
Stay outdoors at Art-A-Whirl
The country’s biggest open studio tour happens in northeast Minneapolis this weekend. Now in its 28th year, the event welcomes more than 1,200 artists, galleries and businesses at over 70 locations. While most events are indoors, there are various outdoor options. This year Art-A-Whirl hosts its first-ever coloring contest. Young artists are encouraged to color in the lines (or not!) of artist Destiny Davison‘s two-page spread, which can be found in the event’s guidebook. After the drawing is done, post it to Instagram and tag it with @nemaamn and #artawhirl. If staying outside is your jam, check out the mural events by queer and people of color collective Creatives After Curfew. Find more murals at the Elias Metal Studio. Catch a live outdoor glassblowing event at Stone Arch Glass Studio on Saturday and Sunday, weather-permitting, from 1-5 p.m. If it’s a puzzle you’d rather solve, test a Rube Goldberg interactive machine in NE Tree House’s (326 NE. Monroe St.) backyard. Chill out with some Zen vibes at the Meditation Center (631 University Av. NE.) and experience peace of mind.
Rise & Remember Festival at George Floyd Memorial
This Memorial Day weekend marks three years since now former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin kneeled on George Floyd’s neck for more than eight minutes, killing him. Rise & Remember, a three-day event organized by the George Floyd Global Memorial, wants to ensure that people will remember the impact that Floyd’s death had on the world, while also focusing on the effects of police brutality on marginalized communities. The fight for racial justice continues, and organizers wish that all will participate to change the world. At George Floyd Square on May 25, there will be a candlelight vigil from 8-10 p.m. On May 27 from 9 a.m.-9 p.m., people will be able to spend time outdoors at the Rise & Remember Festival, which includes an art exhibition, kids’ zone, self-care fair, concert, live performances, inspirational speakers and food from Black-owned businesses. For more information, visit georgefloydglobalmemorial.org.

‘I visited the location once a month over a year, making multiple pictures of the same locations a few seconds, minutes, hours, or months apart. By doing this I was hoping to create a sense of time dilating and compressing that would enable the viewer, through the changes in light, weather, and season, to “move” backwards and forwards in time.’
