Artist Statement

What lies beneath

"All the world's a stage and all the men and women merely players. They have their exits and their entrances, and one man in his time plays many roles." —William Shakespeare.

The original intaglio prints this series reflect observations about the many perceptions Human or animal beings can have. Several images where later re-combined and layered in collages that refine non-verbal narratives that hold different weight to diverse individuals. Some pictorials were used in the book of Valentines and Other Loves, where visual interpretations beget evolving paths of discoveries of previously untapped inner worlds. As the figments of imagination emerge, a body of work is born. Surrealism merges with everyday-reality to forge a new fabric of which the canvas is made.  Transcending boundaries of the mundane, feelings of the unknown are explored, only to discover what lies beneath.
